Rolling mill bearings refer to those used in the rolling industry, which include rolling of non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, and non-metallic products. The bearings used at the roll diameter and on the drum of the rolling roller system usually use four row cylindrical roller bearings to bear radial loads, while thrust roller or thrust ball bearings, as well as radial angular contact ball or centripetal roller bearings, bear axial loads. Nowadays, most lubrication and cooling methods are used, such as oil air lubrication, oil mist lubrication, and grease.
Almost all four row cylindrical roller bearings and six row cylindrical roller bearings are used for the rolling neck, drum, and rolling press of the steel rolling frame. Compared to other roller bearings, these bearings have lower friction. Due to the fact that these bearings are usually installed in an interference fit on the roll neck, they are particularly suitable for steel rolling mill applications with high rolling speeds. The low cross-sectional area of these bearings allows for the use of a relatively larger roll neck diameter compared to the roll diameter. Due to its ability to accommodate a large number of rollers, its radial load capacity is very high.
Multi row cylindrical roller bearings can only withstand radial loads. Therefore, these bearings are installed together with deep groove ball bearings or angular contact ball bearings, or tapered roller bearings with radial or thrust designs, which bear axial loads. The four and six row tapered roller bearings are designed to be separated, meaning that bearing rings with integral flanges and roller and cage components can be installed separately from the separated bearing rings, or all bearing components can be installed separately.
